Some guidelines and background information on the scholarship.
This Scholarship is awarded in memory of Tori Amanda Ferrell, who attended school in the Woodbridge School District from Pre School until her death in a car accident her senior year - November 2003. Tori was involved in all aspects of school life – academic, athletic, artistic and political; as well as community activities. She planned to major in the Humanities looking for a future in the journalism, photography, videography, film venue with an emphasis on aspects which would help others.
This Scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to pursue a similar career path.
The applicant must be planning to major in the Humanities, philosophy or artistic fields similar to but not limited to those mentioned above. Anyone who has been accepted to a University, college or technical school with a minimum of a two-year program may apply for the scholarship. Anyone who has been accepted into the Peace Corps or similar two year humanitarian program will also be considered.
The scholarship is in the amount of $500 which will be sent to the Bookstore of the school the student plans to attend, and may be used to purchase books and supplies needed by the student in their chosen course of studies.

Our goal for next year is to be able to double the Tori Ferrell Scholarship award from $500 to $1000 per student; and from there the goal will be to give out one full scholarship or several smaller scholarships each year. For those of you who would like to contribute to this cause and who shop on line anyway, you can join "igive" and list The Tori Ferrell Scholarship Fund as your cause; then-- everytime you shop at one of the member stores, a percentage will go to Discover Bank in Greenwood, Delaware. Right now there is a $5 bonus being given to your cause for every new member who signs up. The following address will give you more data and the opportunity to sign up.

I hope you will participate in this cause. And feel free to pass it on to your friends. The scholarship goes to seniors at Woodbridge High School (Tori's alma mater) who will be pursuing studies in the Humanities, artistic or media fields. Please remember you can designate your own worthy cause for your shopping if you don't wish to contribute to this one. Either way someone will win!
